This year, more than 115 students will receive their high school diplomas from MNVA, which is an education option available to all Minnesota students.
Of this year's graduates, 25 will be recognized as honor students, having maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Two students will be honored as valedictorians, both having achieved 4.0 GPAs. Seven of MNVA's graduating seniors are members of the National Honor Society.
"The Minnesota Virtual Academy Class of 2015 is prepared to embark on the next journey – whether that is higher education, technical training, service experience or the first steps in a career," said Krin Abraham, Head of School at Minnesota Virtual Academy. "We are proud of the way these students have learned to thrive and take initiative, and we expect great things from them."
Ms. Abraham will deliver an address to the graduates during the ceremony, which is also to include a formal presentation of diplomas, and will conclude with a reception for the Class of 2015 and their families. Many MNVA teachers and staff will be in attendance to recognize the students' achievements. Graduates are expected to pursue higher education at institutions including University of North Carolina, Iowa State University and University of Minnesota.
Through a combination of online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of Minnesota-licensed teachers, MNVA fosters an individualized approach to education for each student. In order to attain their diplomas, high school students are required to successfully complete 48 credits in the areas of English, math, science, social studies, fine arts, physical education, career and technical education and general electives.
