Minnesota New Country School to Celebrate School Choice with Student Performances
HENDERSON, Minn., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesota New Country School (MNCS) will celebrate National School Choice Week with two elementary school performances of "Beauty and the Beast" on Friday, Jan. 25th at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The performances will take place at the Henderson Roadhaus Event Center on Main Street and will be attended by staff, students, families, and community members. This is a free event and all community members are welcome to attend.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"At Minnesota New Country School, we are champions of school choice for south-central Minnesota students and families, with our small school setting and our focus on student-led, project-based learning," said Trish Hiscock-Austin, staff member at MNCS. "The student play-in-a-week-adventure and performances will be another example of what our small but powerful school can accomplish and an enthusiastic way to participate in National School Choice Week."
This event is hosted in cooperation with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre and is made possible through an Arts in Education grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council.
MNCS is a project-based, teacher-powered public charter school serving more than 200 students in grades K-12.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
