Minnesota High Schools Focus on Safe Driving and the Chance to Win Private Concert, Grants
State Farm® Celebrate My Drive® program promotes responsible driving practices
ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota Safety Council is encouraging support for 74 Minnesota high schools that are participating in the State Farm® Celebrate My Drive® program. The program encourages safe driving practices among teens and offers an opportunity for schools to win grants and a private concert with Grammy-nominated The Band Perry, by competing to gain the most commitments to drive safely.
Using the website www.celebratemydrive.com, teens and community members can commit to safe driving once a day, every day from now through October 24 in support of their favorite high school. The 100 schools with the most commitments will win. Two grand prize winning schools will receive a $100,000 grant and a private concert from The Band Perry, eight will win $100,000 and ninety schools will receive $25,000. A minimum of 10% of the prize value must be used toward teen driver safety initiatives in the 2014-15 school year.
A list of Minnesota high schools that are participating can be found on the Minnesota Safety Council website at www.minnesotasafetycouncil.org/traffic/celebratemydrivehighschools.pdf.
"Crashes are the number one killer of our teens and this program is a positive way to engage them," said Lisa Kons, Traffic Safety Coordinator of the Minnesota Safety Council. "We support the efforts of State Farm and the participating high schools to shed light on this important issue and hopefully help save lives."
Last year more than 6.3 million safe driving commitments were made through this program. Track this year's competition leader board at http://www.celebratemydrive.com/Leaderboard.
