Minnesota Chosen to Join National Effort in Transforming Nursing Future
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesota has been awarded national recognition by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and AARP Foundation to join 15 states in becoming an Action Coalition.
"Minnesota's commitment to 'advancing health, leading change,' and Minnesota's knowledge of the issues in the state were clearly reflected in the application," said reviewers. "We are confident that your Action Coalition's contributions to the national Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action will make a significant impact as we work to transform health care through nursing."
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the AARP Foundation, and the Center to Champion Nursing in America, an initiative of AARP, will provide technical assistance to Action Coalitions to develop and implement a unique set of goals within the framework of the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) landmark report titled Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health.
Minnesota's Action Coalition goals statewide include:
- Improving leadership capacity and the influence of nursing
- Creating and delivering clear messages on the IOM recommendations
- Expanding the ability of nurses to come together and create needed change by creating a sustainable fiscal model with new stakeholders, and
- Collaborating with diverse constituencies for the purpose of identifying innovative health optimizing initiatives
