Minnesota Based Rat Rod Magazine Expands, Bucks Newsstand Trends
SHAKOPEE, Minn., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesota based Rat Rod Magazine announces plans to expand its operation in 2015 – an expansion that includes the launch of another magazine title along with increased national event participation.
"We're all in," says Rat Rod Magazine Editor Steve Thaemert, who attributes the magazine's growth to a loyal reader-base. "It's not about money, it's about community."
Rat Rod Magazine was started in 2010 by Thaemert and his father, with less than $1000 and an appreciation for blue-collar hot rods. Since its debut, Rat Rod has sold over a quarter-million copies on the national newsstand and has watched its social media presence explode – nearing 1.5 million followers on Facebook. Even with this tremendous growth, Rat Rod stays true to its modest roots; there are no salaries, no lavish office spaces, and no wasted resources.
"We put everything we've got back into the magazine. Whatever it takes to keep it alive and growing, we owe that to our readers."
In December, the magazine will launch its second national newsstand title, St. Louis based Raw Bike Magazine, in an effort to showcase the talents of blue-collar motorcycle builders. Rat Rod made waves in 2012 when it won an MMPA (Minnesota Magazine & Publishing Association) Innovator Award, and has continued to bring innovation and creative design to the newsstand.
Rat Rod Magazine is an award-winning national newsstand publication dedicated entirely to rat rods and rat rod culture. With an audience in the millions, Rat Rod has established itself as the #1 rat rod publication in the world. www.facebook.com/ratrodmagazine or www.ratrodmagazine.com
