Over the last 10 years, the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) has invested $614 million in 25 Twin Cities Area projects, creating 5,214 housing units and approximately 4,890 union construction jobs. On Thursday, the HIT is honoring workers on their latest project, Green on Fourth, which is being constructed along 4th Street SE in the Prospect Park neighborhood. The HIT is investing $42.7 million in the project, which is being built with 100% union labor. Workers will receive a barbeque lunch and speakers, including elected officials, the development team, and labor leaders, will thank them for their work. The HIT is a $5.8 billion fixed-income investment fund, which utilizes union and public pension fund investments to create jobs and housing through prudent investment in multifamily mortgage backed securities. |
