Minister Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue Sponsors Equatorial Guinea Student Scholarships

MALABO, Equatorial Guinea, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Equatorial Guinea's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, recently sponsored student scholarships in agriculture and natural resources management degrees in the Dominican Republic. This was done by Minister Nguema in his role as President of the Youth Federation of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea.

"The main goal of going to the Dominican Republic is to obtain higher education. Take advantage of this opportunity and bring back skills to help improve agriculture and natural resources management in the country," said Minister Nguema.

In a recent meeting, Equatoguinean students expressed their willingness to take advantage of the scholarships and the chance to use their education and skills to fully engage in the development of Equatorial Guinea.

It is Minister Nguema's goal to build the capacity of the native Equatorial Guinea population in agriculture and related fields. This will provide the nation with the opportunity for less reliance on outside foreign contractors.

During the next five years, 254 Equatoguinean students will travel to the Dominican Republic as a result of the scholarships sponsored by Minister Nguema.
