Minister Bernard Valcourt Announces Funding for 2013 Restigouche Air Show in Charlo
CHARLO,NB, Sept. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, today announced funding of up to $20,000 for the 2013 Restigouche Air Show taking place in Charlo on September 7 and 8.
"Air shows are an excellent opportunity to connect Veterans, those currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces and the general public," said Minister Fantino. "The Government of Canada is proud to support this family-oriented air show that will help increase knowledge of the Canadian Armed Forces and the important role they have played in Canada's military history."
"The 2013 Restigouche Air Show is an exciting event for the whole Madawaska-Restigouche area and I congratulate the organizing committee on putting together such a great program for visitors and local residents to enjoy," said Minister Valcourt. "We are proud to welcome the Snowbirds Demonstration Team and the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the Skyhawks, to our region."
Through the Community Engagement Partnership Fund (CEPF), Veterans Affairs Canada will provide funding to the 2013 Restigouche Air Show to assist with costs for the event including ground transportation, rental of audio-visual equipment as well as tent rental. The 2013 Restigouche Air Show is expected to attract 35,000 spectators from the Maritime provinces and Quebec. The event will include approximately 60 Veterans and approximately 15,000 youth.
The Community Engagement Partnership Fund provides funding for non-profit organizations, educational institutions and other groups interested in planning remembrance initiatives. Funding applications are accepted throughout the year. For more information, visit veterans.gc.ca.
