Analyst Update: Production Updates,Approvals, Quarterly Earnings, Drilling Results, and Acquisitions
Reviewed by: Rohit Tuli, CFA®
The U.S. stocks fell for the fifth session in a row on Thursday, led by decline in the financial sector stocks following disappointing earnings from major Wall Street banks and continued concerns over the global economic growth. The Swiss equity markets tumbled after the Swiss central bank scrapped its three-year old ceiling on franc. The move drove franc soaring against euro on Thursday, leaving investors fretted over its potential negative impact on exports of Switzerland. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the session 0.61% lower at 17,320.71, the S&P 500 lost 0.92% to close at 1,992.67, and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.48% to 4,570.82. Meanwhile, the European markets rallied on Thursday after Swiss central bank lifted the cap on franc. The Swiss central bank's action is seen as an indication of a higher magnitude of the upcoming stimulus programme from the European Central Bank to counter deflation. Most Asian markets were higher on Thursday, led by a sharp rally in the Indian benchmark indices following a policy rate cut.
Banro Corporation (Banro) announced that its Twangiza and Namoya mines have produced 38,236 ounces of gold during Q4 2014 - its best quarterly gold production since the Company began producing gold.
Comstock Mining, Inc. (Comstock Mining) announced that the Storey County Board of Commissioners has approved the Company's plan to expand mining and processing capability of its existing, recently expanded, landmark Special Use Permit (SUP) No. 2000-222-A-4.
Denison Mines Corp. (Denison) announced receipt of the remaining uranium assays results from the summer drill program on the newly discovered Gryphon zone at the Wheeler River property in the Athabasca Basin of Saskatchewan. The highlight of the latest batch of assay results was drill hole WR-573D1, which intersected 22.2% uranium over 2.5 metres, the highest grade intersection to date at Gryphon.
Energy Fuels, Inc. (Energy Fuels) announced definitive agreement to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of common stock of Uranerz Energy Corporation (Uranerz). As per the agreement, shareholders of Uranerz will receive 0.255 common shares of Energy Fuels for each share of Uranerz common stock held.
Entrée Gold, Inc. (Entrée Gold) reported that its Q3 2014 net loss narrowed to $1.4 million, or $0.01 per share, from net loss of $2.9 million, or $0.02 per share in Q3 2013. During the quarter, Entrée Gold commenced pre-feasibility drilling at its 100% owned Ann Mason project in the Yerington district of Nevada.
