Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series Heads to Hawkeye Downs July 15th
BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn., July 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series is taking things up a notch by visiting Hawkeye Downs Speedway, Saturday, July 15th.
"This will be our midwestern debut, and we can't wait," Bandit Director of Operations Brian Madsen said. "Up until this point, all of our races have taken place in the southeastern United States."
Emotions are running high for the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, race, and yet another sellout crowd is expected.
"They've been sold out of food and drinks everywhere we've been," team owner and driver Craig Kruckeberg said. "The response has been fantastic."
To avoid the hassle of long lines, fans can buy tickets in advance by visiting www.ticketfly.com.
"Our series is headquartered in the upper Midwest, and I know our fans will be rocking the house at Cedar Rapids, July 15th," Madsen said.
The last time the Bandits hit the track, Mike Morgan picked up his second straight win, besting series leader Ricky Rude at Highland Rim Speedway.
"It was a sellout (at Highland Rim), and those fans got a chance to see what this series is all about," Morgan said.
"The fans at the Rim were arguably the loudest of the season, and we can't wait to see what the Iowa fans bring to the table," Madsen said.
Rude and Morgan are one-two in the points standings, respectively, with Justin Ball in third.
Drivers race for a $50,000 purse at every Bandit event, with the winner of the feature race taking home a $10,000 check.
Seven races remain in 2017, which has seen many Bandit firsts, including the first time a father/son have competed (Bob & Tommy Boileau) as well as an entire family of Bandits (Craig, Tyler & Trevor Kruckeberg).
Grandstands open at 5 p.m. July 15th and the racing action starts at 7:30 p.m.
