FAIRFAX, Va., April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency's new operational role in the cyber domain creates a formal relationship between DISA, the U.S. Cyber Command and the command's military service components. As the network defender, DISA's goal is to improve security, but success depends on dozens of organizations adopting technical solutions and enterprise management approaches that improve efficiency, security and reliability.
Linked by a commitment to lead the charge and make substantial progress in cybersecurity, DISA leaders will be among the U.S. Defense Department, military services cybersecurity experts and industry specialists participating in the AFCEA International Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium, May 5-7 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The speaker and panelists line-up includes:
- Lt. Gen. James K. "Kevin" McLaughlin, USAF, deputy commander, U.S. Cyber Command
- Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins Jr., USAF, director, DISA
- Terry Halvorsen, CIO, U.S. Defense Department
- David Mihelcic, CTO, DISA
- Margaret "Meg" Whitman, president and CEO, HP
A DISA senior leaders media roundtable will take place at 10:45 a.m. on May 6 in room 338 of the convention center.
In addition to the plenary addresses and panel sessions, concurrent presentations will take place in five theaters on the exhibit floor. Attendees can take advantage of 19 sessions that have been approved as continuing education that support CompTIA and GIAC certifications.
Media members are invited to attend the open sessions of the DON IT Conference, which takes place May 6-7 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The focus will be on the U.S. Navy's information technology and business transformation priorities.
