Military families grapple with savings in uncertain times
Simple tips for 2015 Military Saves Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its on-going commitment to financial education, Pioneer Services, a Division of MidCountry Bank, is participating in 2015 Military Saves Week from February 23-28, helping promote and encourage service members to save money, reduce debt, and build long-term wealth. A component of the Defense Department's larger Financial Readiness Campaign, Military Saves Week enlists the assistance of military leaders, non-profits, educators, financial institutions, and others to assist in this effort.
Pioneer Services will be utilizing social media, newsletters, and marketing efforts to promote the importance of savings throughout the week. Chief Master Sergeant (ret) Allen Usry, Pioneer Services' military liaison, is providing practical, real-world savings advice through the company's online financial education blog, and is also available as a subject matter resource to the media given his years of experience as an advocate for enlisted military personnel.
"Despite the uncertainty of budget cuts, force reductions, or even future deployments, it is critical that military families learn to save smart early in their careers, helping them achieve long-term financial independence," said Usry. "If young service members put a savings plan in place today, no matter how small, and use just a few simple tips to save money and spend more wisely, there's a better chance they'll be prepared for whatever tomorrow brings."
