Milberg LLP Announces Investigation of Premera Blue Cross Data Breach
NEW YORK, March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Milberg LLP announces that it is investigating potential violations of the federal and state laws by Premera Blue Cross ("Premera"), in connection with a massive data breach.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, Premera, one of the largest health insurers in the Pacific Northwest, disclosed that hackers had broken into its network in May 2014 and accessed personal data of its customers. Premera discovered the breach on January 29, 2015. Accessed data includes sensitive personal information, including:
- Names;
- Dates of birth;
- Addresses;
- Telephone numbers;
- Email addresses;
- Social Security numbers;
- Member identification number;
- Medical claims information; and
- Financial information.
At this point, Premera does not believe that data was removed from their network.
