COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At Columbus' Independence Day celebration, "Red, White and Boom," Teamsters who work at Heidelberg Distributing gave information to the public today about anti-worker behavior by the company, which is the distributor of Mike's Hard Lemonade products in Ohio.
The leaflets read, "Why is Mike's Hard Lemonade so Sour for Ohio families?" and "What's Gone Wrong at Heidelberg?"
"Many parents have criticized Mike's Hard Lemonade for marketing to underage drinkers," said Paul Suffoletto, President of Teamsters Local 284 in Columbus. "This is harmful for families, and so it's no surprise its products are distributed by Heidelberg. Heidelberg is hurting Ohio families by trying to force Columbus workers to pay expensive health care premiums."
At the "Red, White and Boom" celebration, an airplane banner also flew overhead that read, "Mike's Hard Lemonade: Too Sour."
"Heidelberg also has a history of violating federal laws protecting workers' rights," Suffoletto said. "For example, the company just illegally fired an active union member. Ohio workers are not going to stand for these abuses any more. We will fight back."
