Midstream companies honored for outstanding work safety, environmental excellence
SAN ANTONIO, April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Gas Processors Association (GPA) and its sister organization, the Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPSA), recognized several member companies with awards for their outstanding midstream industry safety records at the 2013 GPA Convention this week in San Antonio, Texas. GPA also presented the GPA Award for Environmental Excellence during the three-day conference.

GPA honored 10 member companies with safety awards presented yesterday by the association's president, Mike Heim of Targa Resources, in front of more than 900 midstream professionals during the convention's general session. Member companies that submitted their 2012 safety statistics were considered for the first and second place awards available within three award divisions, with divisional eligibility being determined by the number of work hours submitted. U.S.-based and non-U.S. midstream operating companies compete and are recognized separately for the safety honors.
Division I (more than 500,000 work hours)
For U.S.-based companies, Chevron (Houston) received first place honors with a zero "total cases" incident rate (TCR), zero "fatalities plus lost workdays" incident rate (LTR) and 705,160 work hours. Second place was awarded to ExxonMobil (Houston) for a zero TCR, a 0.173 LTR and 1,157,623 work hours.
Division I first place winner in the international classification was United Gas Derivatives Co. (Cairo, Egypt) with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 1,279,050 work hours. Bahrain National Gas Co. (Riffa, Bahrain) received second place, with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 900,525 work hours.
Division II (100,000 - 500,000 work hours)
First place was awarded to Highland Partners (Enid, Okla.) with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 251,675 work hours. Second place honors went to Red Cedar Gathering (Durango, Colo.) with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 212,222 work hours.
Within the international category, first place winner in Division II was Phoenix Park Gas Processors Ltd. (Trinidad, West Indies) with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 447,063 work hours. No companies qualified for second place in this division.
Division III (less than 100,000 work hours)
Among U.S. companies, PB Energy Storage Services (Houston) received the first place award with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 81,369 work hours. Second place went to Pecan Pipeline Co. (Houston) with zero TCR, a zero LTR and 62,720 work hours.
Division III first place winner in the international classification was Aitken Creek Gas Storage (Ft. St. John, British Columbia) with a zero TCR, a zero LTR and 35,515 work hours. No companies qualified for second place in this division.

Heim also presented the GPA Award for Environmental Excellence to DCP Midstream (Denver). The project-based award recognizes companies demonstrating initiatives, and/or leadership, in managing their environmental affairs in midstream sector activities. DCP Midstream was honored for emission reduction projects in its northern business unit.
GPSA today awarded eight member companies for outstanding safety records. GPSA safety awards are based on each company's 2012 Occupational Safety and Health Administration records and a three-year history of active programs promoting safety and displaying safety improvement.
GPSA safety award recipients are Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kan.), CB&I (Houston), Evonik (The Woodlands, Texas), Foster Wheeler USA (Houston), SAIC Energy, Environment and Infrastructure (Tulsa, Okla.), Saxon Construction (Suwanee, Ga.), USA Environment (Houston) and Vinson Process Controls (Lewisville, Texas).
