In his highly-anticipated keynote, Chinese star pianist Lang Lang will outline how talent, technology and brand partnerships exposed his music to a broader audience while disrupting the classical music world.
American Express marketing supremo John Hayes will unveil the strategy behind the company's "Unstaged" live streamed concert series and how partnering with talented artists and leading digital partners can drive music sales, fan immersion and brand relevance.
During a challenging on-stage conversation, TJ Kang, SVP Service Planning, Samsung Electronics and Paul Mascarenas, CTO of US car giant Ford, will address how the connected life is reshaping the way content is consumed and how it impacts the music business. The discussion will be chaired by Olivia Solon, Associate Editor of Wired.
Visionary Monday offers a series of presentations on key trends and market analysis by, among others, advertising maverick Remi Babinet, Chairman & Global Creative Director of BETC and Global Creative Officer at Havas Worldwide; tech guru Robert Scoble of Rackspace Hosting; and avant-garde cellist Peter Gregson, who recently had Twitter translated into music.
Mark Hoppus, producer and founding member of pop-punk superstars Blink-182, will join a panel including Incubus manager Steve Rennie, to discuss whether innovative technologies arouse excitement, frustration or fear within the music industry. Jean-Noel Tronc, CEO of Sacem, and Robert Ashcroft, CEO of PRS for Music, will represent the authors' rights organisation viewpoint, while Johan Lagerlof of X5 Music and Rolf Budde of Budde Music will show how labels and publishers handle this creative renaissance.
Opening the conference event, Trinidadian rapper/producer Theophilus London, Nokia's VP & Global Head of Entertainment Jyrki Rosenberg, Warner Bros Records' Lori Feldman and MAC Presents' Marcie Allen will focus on the subject of artists leveraging tech and brands.
Visionary Monday also includes the award ceremony announcing the winners of the Midem Marketing Competition and the startup competition Midemlab, in the presence of Fleur Pellerin, French Minister for SMEs, Innovation and Digital Economy, and Alexander Stubb, Finland's Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade.
The conference will welcome the voice of the new generation, with 21-year-old entrepreneur and artistic advisor, Marcus Taylor, winner of the Speak at Midem Competition. Ian Rogers, CEO of Topspin Media, will host the day's events, which will round off with a performance by multimedia artist Paul Miller, aka DJ Spooky.
