MIDEM'S 'French Vibes' Line-Up Reflects the Richness of the French Music Scene
PARIS, Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- MIDEM announces the line-up for "French Vibes," in partnership with French copyright collection societies SACEM, SCPP and SPPF and in association with promotional body Bureau Export. A wealth of exciting French acts with strong international potential and new album projects will be headlining the "French Vibes" event at MIDEM 2011.
BB Brunes (Warner Music France), ThE bEwItChEd HaNdS (Savoir Faire - Jive Epic/Sony Music France), Cascadeur (Casablanca Records/Universal), The Chase (PIAS Recordings France), The Do (cinq 7/Wagram), Medi (Atmospheriques), Revolver (Delabel/EMI Music France) and Syd Matters (Because Music), will all be performing at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes on 23 January.
"10 years ago, French music was enjoying a golden era on the international stage, mainly through the electronic scene," says Dominique Leguern, Director of MIDEM. "Today, a new generation of French artists is emerging. Brought up on a culture of music without frontiers, thanks to the rise of the Internet, these groups are in the process of becoming the worthy successors to artists like Daft Punk and Phoenix. The French Vibes line-up at MIDEM 2011 reflects this wealth of French talent and its potential for international development."
More than just a musical showcase, "French vibes" will provide high-potential French artists and their teams with the opportunity to strike international deals in all areas, including digital partnerships, licensing, publishing, distribution, brands, tours and synchro. MIDEM attendees will experience the range and quality of contemporary French music production and the dynamism of the country's industry as a whole, particularly in the area of new technology.
"French Vibes" will also offer case studies on acts that have already proven themselves internationally, as well as conference and matchmaking sessions between French music industry professionals and their international counterparts.
"French Vibes" runs from 23-24 January as part of MIDEM, the world's foremost music industry gathering.
