Midas Appoints New Chief Financial Officer & National Manager of Utilities
New hires come on heels of market and services expansion for the underground infrastructure company
CAPITAL HEIGHTS, Md., Dec. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Midas, an underground infrastructure company known for its full suite of cutting edge utilities and trenchless solutions, announced today the hiring of Pierre-Luc Chicoine as Chief Financial Officer and Robert DePonte as National Manager, Utilities Division. Chicoine assumed his role in early fall and DePonte began in November.
Chicoine came to Midas from Canam Steel Corporation, where he was Controller for the Heavy Business Unit and oversaw its financial reporting.
"Pierre-Luc joins Midas at a pivotal time of growth, including three acquisitions that greatly expanded our footprint. In the short time that he has been with the company, Pierre-Luc has worked diligently to unite our financials and help inform our strategic vision for Midas," said Dan Cathell, CEO, Midas.
"Midas is unique within the market now that it offers more capabilities than any other underground utilities company in the country and I'm thrilled to join during this expansion," said Chicoine.
Assuming the role of National Manager of the Utilities Division, DePonte brings over 35 years experience in the industry. He will focus on operational strategies and business development for Midas's largest department. He was previously with Metra Industries for nearly 25 years and was most recently Vice President of Construction, where he managed day-to-day company operations while ensuring the financial well-being of all projects from bid stage to completion.
"Robert has a strong client-centric track record that will help elevate Midas and its commitment to superb customer service. Equally impressive are his managerial skills, which will be critical in helping guide our Utilities division," said Cathell.
"I appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Midas family and look forward to collaborating with its industry-leading team to deliver outstanding service for our commercial and residential customers," said DePonte.
Midas began as a utility services provider and though the company has expanded to offer a complete portfolio of infrastructure repair and rehabilitation solutions, utilities efforts for water, sewer, and storm water drainage systems remain a premier service. DePonte will play a leading role in managing these initiatives.
