REDWOOD CITY, Calif, Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a newly published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, fourth quarter point-to-point microwave equipment revenue grew 9% sequentially. Among the microwave technology segments— TDM, Packet and Hybrid— it was the packet-only radio segment that had the highest revenue growth rate at 20% quarter-over-quarter.

"Packet microwave market revenues grew sequentially at double-digit rates for a third consecutive quarter as operators grow comfortable with packet transport for cell site backhaul," said Jimmy Yu, Vice President of Microwave Transmission research at Dell'Oro Group. "Demand for packet systems has grown faster than anticipated over the past few quarters. Alcatel-Lucent has been the dominant equipment manufacturer for the past two years in this equipment segment followed by Nokia Siemens Networks and DragonWave," Yu added.

The Microwave Transmission report indicates that 1.4 million radio transceivers shipped in 2011 representing approximately 700 thousand microwave backhaul links and is forecasted to grow 13% in 2012. The equipment manufacturers with the highest radio transceiver shipment share were as follows.
