MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez Delivers Keynote Address at Veterans Conference
Award Winning Tech Industry Leader Speaks before Veteran Crowd about Successful Business Ownership
VIENNA, Va., Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroTech President & CEO Tony Jimenez today delivered the closing keynote address at the National Veterans Small Business Conference and Expo, held this week in New Orleans. Jimenez is a highly decorated, retired U.S. Army officer, founder of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), and a passionate advocate of Veterans in the Workforce. In remarks entitled: "Love What You Do – Do What You Love," Jimenez focused on his story of business success as a veteran turned entrepreneur, and, in return, on inspiring veterans to launch their own business.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), in partnership with the Veteran Federal Interagency Council, hosted the largest nationwide conference of its kind in support of Veteran-Owned, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The event offered a variety of new training sessions on navigating the federal acquisition process. Conference attendees ranged from new business owners just back from in-theater, to well-established veteran-owned businesses looking to expand opportunities.
"It is truly a tremendous honor for me to be asked to speak to the veteran community that is gathered here," said Tony Jimenez in his opening remarks. "I'm gratified to witness the tremendous growth of the Veteran Small Business Conference since I first attended the inaugural show at its inception in 2005. MicroTech is the No. 1 small business contractor at the VA and has a long-standing history of success as a solutions provider across the Department of Defense, and with every service branch supporting the Warfighter."
The No. 1 Tech-focused SDVOSB in the U.S., MicroTech (www.MicroTech.net) provides Systems Integration, Technology Services, Product Solutions, Unified Communications & Collaboration, Cloud Computing, and Innovation & Integration to the public sector and Fortune 500 enterprises - managing more than half-a-million tech users daily. MicroTech holds 27 procurement vehicles and is the prime contractor on more-than-100 Federal projects.
In his keynote address to the 3,000-seat venue at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Jimenez spoke about his business philosophy. "Since day one, I have made it a focus to hire veterans," he said. "They offer leadership and unique skills that translate well to the corporate world. Their military training ensures that they show up on time, are well prepared, thoroughly understand their mission, and strive to reach their goals. You can't go wrong by hiring a vet."
Jimenez has been repeatedly recognized as an advocate for veterans. In 2009, the U.S. Small Business Administration named him a "Veteran Champion," and he was the Veteran Business Journal's first "Vetrepreneur of the Year" in 2006. MicroTech is the No. 1 Veteran Owned Business in Washington DC.
