MicroStrategy Software Delivers 2-Second Response Times to Mobile Users on Apple iPad 2
Benchmark Tests Show 16% Improvement in Speed as Compared to First-Generation iPad
TYSONS CORNER, Va., May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, today announced that in mobile BI application benchmark tests of its software running on the Apple iPad 2, MicroStrategy can support over 14,300 active users on an 8-CPU configuration, delivering response times as fast as 2 seconds. These results represent a 16% improvement in speed compared to Apple's first-generation iPad.
The benchmark test results further show that MicroStrategy is capable of sustaining such response times even as query volumes were increased to 265 KiloCycles, which equates to 265,000 round-trip queries per hour. The test ran using MicroStrategy 9.0.2 installed on commodity Intel-based hardware with a typical retail price of $14,620, and using a 64-bit Windows operating system.
Performance Test Details: The performance tests were conducted by adding increasing volumes of load onto the MicroStrategy Airline Performance App, available with the MicroStrategy Mobile App on the iTunes App Store. The application consists of five interconnected screens that allow a total of 54 different analyses. As tested, the application was accessing 25 months of publicly available FAA data hosted in a Microsoft SQL Server installation. The performance tests were conducted using Borland Silk Performer to simulate a typical workload of users accessing the MicroStrategy BI server by driving traffic volume to a target load according to a predesigned usage pattern.
Response times observed are specific to the hardware configuration and query loads used in the performance tests.
