Microsemi's PolarFire FPGA Named "2017 Product of the Year" by Electronic Products China and 21ic.com
Lowest Power, Cost-Optimized Mid-Range Device Garners Another Product of the Year Award
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced it was honored with a "2017 Product of the Year" award from Electronic Products China (EPC) and 21ic.com for its lowest power, cost-optimized mid-range PolarFire® field programmable gate array (FPGA).
The editorial teams at EPC and 21ic jointly screened and selected the 20 best products from more than 100 product launch announcements they received throughout the year. The winners were selected on the basis of outstanding performance of the product, specifically on technology and features, usability and how the product meets the needs and requirements of related applications in the market.
"We are excited to be recognized by Electronic Products China's '2017 Product of the Year' award, as the magazine recognizes the unique features of our cost-effective, lowest power, highly secure and reliable mid-range PolarFire FPGAs," said Shakeel Peera, vice president of product marketing at Microsemi. "This prestigious award not only validates our leadership in delivering a truly innovative FPGA product family that transforms the way the market thinks about traditional mid-range FPGAs, but also acknowledges the relevance of PolarFire in the Chinese integrated circuits market, which greatly values the total cost of ownership and low power facets of this family."
The 2017 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the March 2018 issue of EPC Magazine and on 21ic's website, http://www.21ic.com/wz/CRXDQWHFA/20180201/20180201.html. This prestigious award adds to the separate Electronic Products 2017 Product of the Year award Microsemi's PolarFire FPGA family received in January 2018.
About PolarFire FPGAs
Microsemi's new cost-optimized PolarFire FPGAs deliver the industry's lowest power at mid-range densities with exceptional security and reliability. The product family features 12.7 Gbps transceivers and offer up to 50 percent lower power than competing FPGAs. Densities span from 100K to 500K logic elements (LEs) and are ideal for a wide range of applications within wireline access networks and cellular infrastructure, defense and commercial aviation markets, as well as industry 4.0 which includes the industrial automation and internet of things (IoT) markets.
PolarFire FPGAs' transceivers can support multiple serial protocols, making the products ideal for communications applications with 10Gbps Ethernet, CPRI, JESD204B, Interlaken and PCIe. In addition, the ability to implement serial gigabit Ethernet (SGMII) on GPIO enables numerous 1Gbps Ethernet links to be supported. PolarFire FPGAs also contain the most hardened security intellectual property (IP) to protect customer designs, data and supply chain. The non-volatile PolarFire product family consumes 10 times less static power than competitive devices and features an even lower standby power referred to as Flash*Freeze.
