ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced it has achieved National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certification for the advanced encryption standard (AES) algorithm on its ultra-secure TRRUST-Stor™ solid state drive designed for critical data storage. TRRUST-Stor is one of the few solid state drives on the market that has hardware-implemented AES encryption with a 256-bit key using the XTS block cipher mode. Together with additional security features that include sanitization protocols, Microsemi's proprietary Armor™ processor and TRRUST-Purge™ technology that renders data forensically unrecoverable in less than 30 milliseconds (ms), the TRRUST-Stor drive may be the most secure SSD on the market.

"Microsemi's TRRUST-Stor solid state drive products deliver outstanding security, reliability, performance and value to our Department of Defense, government and industrial customers, and illustrates our continued commitment to providing highly integrated and secure solutions for protecting our customers' critical data needs," said Charlie Leader, vice president and general manager for Microsemi.
"AES is a complex encryption technology and earning NIST certification ensures that it has been implemented correctly in our TRRUST-Stor SDD," said BJ Heggli, vice president of strategic development and assistant general manager for Microsemi. "As a result, we can provide our customers with an added level of assurance that their highly sensitive data is safely stored."
Microsemi's proprietary SSD design provides superior data integrity and endurance by focusing processing power on error correction, wear leveling, and eliminating drive corruption and unscheduled downtime. This failure prevention methodology protects data from catastrophic failures in critical applications and provides an essential layer of protection.
The TRRUST–Stor solid state drive family provides up to 512 gigabyte host non-volatile removable media. These SSDs are designed for outstanding reliability, performance and security in applications requiring high data security and rugged environments. The drives are also available with ruggedized SATA connectors. All design and manufacturing for the TRRUST-Stor is done in the U.S. in Microsemi's trusted facility.
TRRUST-Stor Key Features:
- NIST-certified AES-256 encryption
- Unparalleled ruggedization
- Super fast erase
- Key management techniques
- Optional ruggedized SATA connectors
The AES encryption technology was validated by InfoGard Laboratories, Inc. and certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The certification will appear on the NIST site: http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/STM/cavp/documents/aes/aesval.html.
Microsemi has full design, manufacture and test capabilities for a wide variety of multiple component packages (MCPs), commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) memory, microprocessors and combination MCPs for demanding applications. These microelectronic products can also be ruggedized and processed for tamper resistance. All devices are subjected to extensive environmental and temperature testing. Microsemi's facility in Phoenix, Ariz. is a DMEA accredited for assembly and test. Its quality and inspection system requirements are certified to MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and K, MIL-PRF-38535 Class Q, ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100. For more information, call 602-437-1520.
