MICROS Hires Accomplished Technology Executive, Russell Butler, to Lead Global Product Development
COLUMBIA, Md., Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCRS), a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, today appointed Russell Butler, Senior Vice President of Global Research & Development. Mr. Butler is an accomplished product development executive with more than 20 years' experience in engineering and leading large, global research and development organizations. In this new role, Mr. Butler will be responsible for leading MICROS' development teams around the world, spanning its vertical markets hotels, food & beverage, and retail, as well as eCommerce.
Most recently, Mr. Butler served with IBM as Vice President, Messaging and Collaboration, where he led a worldwide product development organization spanning 12 locations. He also held several executive positions in IBM's data integration and master data management product families.
Prior to joining IBM in 2005 in connection with IBM's acquisition of Ascential Software, Mr. Butler held executive positions at Ascential Software, Mercator, AT&T, and other leading technology companies. He has a track record as a technology leader known for crafting the strategic vision to achieve business results. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maryland.
