MicroPact’s entellitrak Helps DOI With Ocean Energy Management

HERNDON, Va., Aug. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Department of Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement Office of Offshore Regulatory Programs (DOI-BOEMRE, OORP) purchased MicroPact's data tracking and management platform entellitrak® as their Technology Assessment & Research (TA&R) management tool.  entellitrak will help automate research reviews and recommendations used to enhance the regulations of offshore safety, oil spill response, and renewable energy guidance. 

Previously, the DOI did not have a centralized system to track recommendations derived from TA&R studies and to ensure that they were reviewed and considered. As a result, BOEMRE was unable to effectively track who had responded to recommendation requests. Consequently, if an accident did occur in spite of a helpful recommendation, DOI could not easily back-trace their records to find whether the recommendation had been reviewed, if it had been implemented or not, and why.

The entellitrak BOEMRE award will address these issues by electronically capturing TA&R studies and documenting recommendations, their date/time received, and their owners. The entellitrak workflow management solution will automate the process of completing research recommendation tracking forms, instantly routing them to the appropriate liaison and giving prompts to approve, deny, or approve with modifications.  Once a recommendation is reviewed, entellitrak stores it in a database for future review and/or implementation.

The entellitrak BOEMRE award is the first phase of an overall project that will eventually include Accident Investigation and Regulation and Standards tracking within the Office of Offshore Regulatory Affairs.  This project will be MicroPact's sixth project at DOI.
