Micro Strategies Selected as Key Technology Partner in Launch of The King Center Imaging Project
Over 1 million documents being digitally archived for global sharing
DENVILLE, N.J., Jan. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Micro Strategies was selected as a key partner by JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s Technology for Social Good group to work on The King Center Imaging project. Micro Strategies created and configured the electronic document archive and document processing workflow used to feed the website. This configuration included the importing, quality review, cropping and assembly of images into complete documents. Once the documents were assembled, Micro Strategies' MSI Profiler module was used for sophisticated tagging and to establish key document relationships for locating documents on the website. The networking, storage and server infrastructure required to complete the document processing workflow were also completed by Micro Strategies.
The networking infrastructure was installed, a shared interface was generated, workflow processes were created, sorting and tagging capabilities were added, as were relationship management rules and search functionality for all of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s documents and many other artifacts from The Civil Rights movement. In this carefully orchestrated process, every document and photo counted. Imaging experts that also work with the Metropolitan Museum of Art were brought in to assure that the utmost care was taken to preserve and accurately reflect this treasured content.
"Micro Strategies is honored to have been able to participate in such a historic undertaking. Our team understood the significance of all the data at hand, and we were pleased to be able to assist in archiving those materials virtually in ways in which they could never have been linked physically," said Anthony Bongiovanni, President of Micro Strategies.
Bongiovanni continued, "Micro Strategies infrastructure, software and implementation teams have decades of combined experience as well as broad and deep knowledge in a number of areas. From high level capabilities in Java, DotNet, Framework, SharePoint, etc. to our expertise in Advanced Infrastructure and Enterprise Content Management Solutions, our knowledge base and capabilities contributed to our being chosen as a key partner in this effort."
Micro Strategies built the solution on the Alfresco software platform using Micro Strategies' own MSI Profiler. The capabilities Micro Strategies delivered made documents and images smart and searchable. Micro Strategies also set up and configured the infrastructure using IBM's System x® Servers, IBM N Series and IBM Storwize® V7000 Storage and application virtualization technologies from Citrix. These solutions contributed in multiple ways to realizing the King Family's goal of preserving the repository for future generations and making the artifacts available to a global audience.
"When asked to help design the imaging strategy for the King Center Archive Project I had a personal vision. The vision was to help build a completely modern, standards-based imaging workflow based on nondestructive metadata-driven logic for post-capture cropping, scaling and ICC based color conversion of archival master images. This vision was realized by way of the MSI profiler. I have worked with integrators on cultural heritage projects worldwide. While many integrators like to talk about innovative solutions, few seem to deliver when faced with new challenges. The Micro Strategies team met the challenges head on and helped make this project a success," shared Scott Geffert, President of Imagingetc.
"Working with JPMorgan Chase and Alfresco in this momentous effort was extraordinary. Engaging Micro Strategies' Team and utilizing the MSI Profiler in such a broad and important initiative was a great example of how technology can benefit society," stated Adam Storch, Micro Strategies' Vice President - Business Solutions. "Our team was able to rapidly architect a large-scale, multi-media management system that was scalable, searchable and easy to access," Storch shared.
