ROCKVILLE, Md., July 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Micro Focus (LSE: MCRO.L) announced today the general availability of Access Review 2.0, a comprehensive solution that automates and simplifies certification, role management, and risk scoring to anchor today's emerging identity governance programs. With Access Review 2.0, business managers are better equipped for decision-making that reduces data breach risks and brings employee access profiles into alignment to better meet governance and compliance requirements.
As reported by the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report released in April 2016, a staggering 63 percent of confirmed data breaches were derived from weak, default or stolen credentials. At a time when compromised privileged users are a primary vector for breaches, identity governance programs need to help reduce that attack surface by providing greater insight into orphan accounts and employees with excessive access as well as simple mechanisms to revoke access to lapsed accounts.
"We've been able to redeploy half of our identity management team and have gained better visibility into system access," said Henrik Mohr, Department Manager IAM, KMD. "Access Review 2.0 is intuitive for our business managers and the updated reporting processes are simplified. The overall business efficiency benefits we've received to our governance program is a major upside we've realized since using this new solution."
Micro Focus understands that there is a critical need to relieve business managers of the significant burden to meet compliance standards quickly and effectively, while reducing the cost and effort involved in the request and certification processes. Managers have specific needs to certify the access of employees, manage access by role, and define the potential risks employees represent based on their activities. Managers have certification fatigue due to time-consuming access review processes without context. Access Review 2.0 delivers a simplified approach to identity governance by providing:
- Business Role Management – Because roles can now be based on standard rules built into Access Manager 2.0, managers are able to focus on just the access exceptions and reduce the workload associated with the approval and certifications necessary for access rights.
- Risk Scoring – By aggregating information and simplifying the risk calculation for business users, the context contributes to better decision making that reduces risk.
- Service Desk Integration – Provides out-of-the-box support for ServiceNow and Remedy so that revocations are automatically ticketed and followed-up for completion.
- Report on Identity Governance – Updated reporting capabilities with out-of-the-box support for scheduling and distribution includes entitlements, certification status, request and approvals, and policy violations to make audit reporting easier.
"Micro Focus manages more than 1.5 billion identities globally, and, as a pioneer in the identity market, we have a deep understanding of the role identity plays in helping organizations go faster, meet customer and employee demand and leverage cloud services – all while reducing the risk of data breaches and compliance failure," said Travis Greene, Identity Solutions Strategist at Micro Focus. "With Access Review 2.0, we are demonstrating our commitment to the identity governance market by extending our customers' capabilities beyond provisioning identities to truly governing the access of those identities in a programmatic, repeatable and auditable way. We help businesses dynamically manage access needs while reducing the organization's attack surface."
