HILLIARD, Ohio, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Micro Center (www.microcenter.com) announced today that it will continue its tradition of closing stores for all of Thanksgiving Day in consideration of its employees. "Our Associates work hard every day, and we strongly believe that they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families," said Rick Mershad, Micro Center CEO and President.
Many retail analysts predict strong sales for the 2014 holiday season as a prelude to 2015 which is predicted to be the best year in the current economic cycle. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) predicts that 2014 holiday tech sales will rise 2.5% versus 0.9% in 2013. CEA analysts also note that consumers are much more optimistic than a year ago. Consumer confidence often results in increased purchasing, particularly of durable products and postponed purchases.
Our forecasts are exceeding those of many analysts, since our customers purchasing is driven by their desire for productivity as well as love of gadgetry.
For 2014, more retailers seem interested in opening on Thanksgiving despite the opinion of many that the holiday should remain non-commercial. Regardless of the economics, Micro Center values its employees' contribution, and prefers to feature its Black Friday deals on or after Black Friday, rather than before.
All twenty-five Micro Center stores will be open with extended hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28 with Black Friday savings that last through extended hours on the weekend.
