The featured technology, listed as Lot 128 in the online auction catalog, can be viewed at www.icappatentbrokerage.com/forsale. This lot discloses pharmaceutical pills imprinted with machine readable code such as a micro barcode for improved identification. The imprinted information may include data about the medication contents, source identification dosage frequency and quantity, as well as medically related warning concerning the medication or its potency. The barcode serves as a unique identifier which may also combat problems with counterfeit medicine. In addition, the assets also disclose a dispenser complete with a scanner which stores information from pills passed through the device. Asset claims could also apply to liquid and aromatic forms of drugs. However, the main thrust is to identify the manufacturer and distributor of the drug dosage by relying upon a database. These claims are important for establishing an "electronic pedigree" for the drug dosages, which the FDA and various states are mandating be done.
Dean Becker, ICAP Patent Brokerage and ICAP Ocean Tomo Auctions CEO, commented, "Our Fall 2011 Auction will be our biggest yet, featuring more than 140 lots. Technology, like that disclosed by this lot, represents some of the best innovation in the industry. We are very excited to be able to offer this to the worldwide market."
