Mickey Who??? 200 Kids in Orlando Vie for $10,000.00 Prize at National School SCRABBLE Championship
ORLANDO, Fla., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- These kids are like most other 5-8th graders with one big difference. They know hundreds of words more than most kids and adults. And while most kids visit Orlando for rides, shows and non-stop fun, these 200 kids are all business. Each is vying for the $10,000 first prize at the annual National School SCRABBLE Championship held this year at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Play begins Friday afternoon April 9th and goes through Saturday afternoon. The final match between the top two teams is scheduled for 2:45pm. The public can view the action along with expert commentary on a closed circuit broadcast at the hotel.
Contestants are from all over the United States and Canada and part of the National School SCRABBLE Program. Over a million kids in 20,000+ schools have used the classic word game in the classroom and afterschool programs to sharpen their skills at spelling, vocabulary, math, dictionary use, decision making and more.
