DETROIT, Aug. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Michigan Teamster local union officers who gathered at the Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, Mich. for Joint Council 43's 2014 Fall Delegates Meeting voted unanimously to re-elect Joint Council 43 President Greg Nowak, Secretary-Treasurer Jim "Cinci" Cianciolo and the entire Executive Board to a new three-year term.
The re-elected Joint Council 43 Executive Board officers are:
- Greg Nowak, President (Principal officer of Local 1038, Detroit)
- Jim Cianciolo, Secretary-Treasurer (Principal officer of Local 243, Plymouth Township)
- Ron Holzgen, Vice President (Principal officer of Local 406 Grand Rapids)
- Mike Parker, Recording Secretary (Principal officer of Local 580, Lansing)
- Kevin Moore, Trustee (Principal officer of Local 299, Detroit)
- Paul Kozicki, Trustee (Principal officer of Local 247, Detroit)
- Steve Nobles, Trustee (Principal officer of GCC District 3)
"We have been working very hard to implement our agenda to keep Michigan Teamsters in the forefront in the battle to help Michigan's working families," Nowak said. "Right now, Michigan workers are engaged in a crucial campaign to protect our jobs, rights and benefits from anti-union corporate and political attacks.
"We are all aware of just how important the 2014 elections are, and this is why Teamsters across Michigan will be working harder than ever to have a visible political action program come November. Protecting our friends and defeating candidates who seek to undermine the rights and benefits of working families will remain our priority."
Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa, who issued the oath of office to the re-elected Executive Board officers, said that under the dynamic leadership of the Nowak-Cinci Team, Michigan Teamsters have upheld the promise of growing the Union, representing rank-and-file members and building a stronger team of Joint Council #43 officers, local union officials, Stewards and rank-and-file members, to address the issues and concerns facing Teamsters in the 21st century workplace.
"Joint Council 43 has a history of fighting for rank-and-file Teamsters and local unions, and I know that with President Greg Nowak at the helm this tradition will continue," Hoffa said. "President Nowak and the Executive Board have also worked closely with the International Union, recognizing that we are stronger when we stand together and use our collective resources to advance our mutual goals."
Michigan Teamsters Joint Council #43 represents 100,000 active Teamsters, retirees and their families from 15 local unions across Michigan.
