Michigan Court of Appeals Unanimously Upholds Geoffrey Fieger's $144.5 Million Dollar Malpractice Verdict For Unborn Baby
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Attorney Geoffrey Fieger announced today that the Michigan Court of Appeals has unanimously upheld his $144.5 Million Dollar Verdict in the case of Markell Vanslembrouck vs. William Beaumont Hospital, Case No. 2006-754585-NH in a 74 page opinion. According to the National Law Journal, the verdict was the largest of its kind in the U.S. for the year 2011.
Fieger stated: "This decision not only assures that Markell, who is totally and permanently disabled as a result of horrible malpractice, will finally get justice after 17 years, but also, that the rule of law still prevails in Michigan, and that the big money interests of hospitals and insurance companies cannot always prevent unborn babies from having a jury give them their day in court."
"To this day, the William Beaumont Hospital has never offered even a dime in settlement, confidently stating to Plaintiff's that Michigan's appellate judges would not allow an unborn baby, injured during birth, to win a large verdict."
