Michigan Chamber of Commerce Says It's Time For A Change; Recommends Hoekstra Or Durant For U.S. Senate
LANSING, Mich., July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today announced its position on the campaign for U.S. Senate.
"Sadly, at a time when Michigan residents need more and better jobs, Senator Debbie Stabenow has a cumulative voting record of only 33 percent with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on bills that would have helped spark economic growth and job creation," said Rich Studley, President & CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. "During her years in the U.S. Senate, government spending has skyrocketed out of control; the federal government has accumulated a massive budget deficit; and Congress is now careening toward a fiscal cliff."
"Michigan's working families and job providers cannot afford another six years of more of the same," added Studley. "It's time for a change."
"After carefully evaluating the four other candidates for U.S. Senate, the Michigan Chamber's PAC Board of Directors unanimously concluded there are two well-qualified individuals who have a strong commitment to free enterprise and the ability to win in both the August Primary and November General Election," said Jim Holcomb, Senior Vice President of Business Advocacy & General Counsel for the Michigan Chamber. "Therefore, the Michigan Chamber recommends voting for either Clark Durant or Pete Hoekstra for the U.S. Senate on August 7th."
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is a statewide business organization representing approximately 6,800 employers, trade associations and local chambers of commerce.
