Michigan Chamber Calls Appointment of Brian Zahra to Michigan Supreme Court a Solid Choice
LANSING, Mich., Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Chamber of Commerce today applauded the appointment of Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Brian Zahra to the Michigan Supreme Court.
"We commend Governor Rick Snyder for making another strong personnel decision," said Michigan Chamber President & CEO Rich Studley. "Brian Zahra is recognized as a leading judicial conservative who understands the role of judges as interpreters of the law, not creators of the law."
"Judge Zahra is a solid choice for the Michigan Supreme Court," said Bob LaBrant, General Counsel for the Michigan Chamber. "Brian Zahra has a strong judicial record, first as a trial judge on the Wayne County Circuit Court and then 11 years as a judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals."
Brian Zahra replaces Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura Corrigan who has been appointed by Gov. Snyder to serve as Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services.
"We congratulate Justice Corrigan on her appointment and for her 12 years of service on the Michigan Supreme Court," Studley added.
