Michelin To Showcase 'Beyond the Driving Test' Campaign At Lifesavers National Conference
Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities is the largest gathering of highway safety professionals in the U.S.
CHICAGO, March 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives from Michelin will be onsite at the 2015 Lifesavers National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities in Chicago March 15-17 to exhibit the company's Beyond the Driving Test teen road safety campaign.
Automobile accidents are the No. 1 killer of teens in America, with more than 5,000 deaths each year*. Of the 2.2 million vehicle accidents per year, 12 percent are among inexperienced drivers and involve tire-related issues such as insufficient tire tread or improperly inflated tires**, a number which is nearly three times higher than with experienced drivers. That equates to one accident every two minutes.
Because many of these accidents are preventable, Michelin and FIA have joined together to launch a campaign, Beyond the Driving Test, to raise awareness of tire maintenance and safety. This campaign makes available resources designed to initiate conversation between parents and teens, and among teen drivers and their peers. The two organizations will also be working with national groups and state organizations to meet the goal of having all 50 states include some form of tire safety information in their individual driver's education curricula by 2020.
Attendees of the Lifesavers Conference are encouraged to stop by the Michelin booth (No. 306) to learn more about this life-saving campaign and speak with company representatives. The booth will showcase campaign assets such as how-to videos, Michelin Man tire pressure gauges and penny testers, as well as Glove Box Guides containing essential information for teen drivers.
Lifesavers is the premier national highway safety meeting in the United States dedicated to reducing the tragic toll of deaths and injuries on our nation's roadways. Drawing nearly 1,700 participants in 2014, Lifesavers continues to be the essential conference since its start in the early 1980s. Each year, the Lifesavers Conference provides a forum that delivers relevant and timely common-sense solutions to today's critical highway safety problems.
