Michelin Encourages Everyone To Get #Ready4Winter
#Ready4Winter photo contest awards set of Premier® A/S tires
GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the first snowstorms impact parts of the country, Michelin North America is helping consumers get their car ready for the winter season with a new "Ready4Winter" campaign, including helpful tips and a special photo contest. Consumers can enter to win a set of four Michelin Premier® A/S tires by posting a photo with the hashtag #Ready4Winter on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook showing them or their family prepping for the winter season.
"You need to make sure your vehicle operates safely during the winter season – whether you experience snow-covered roads or just occasional icy conditions," said Ron Margadonna, Senior Technical Marketing Manager, Michelin. "There are a number of simple things you can do to prepare your car."
Make sure you have the right tire
If you live in an area that endures severe winter conditions with large amounts of snowfall with ice and extreme cold temperatures, Michelin recommends considering a winter tire, like the MICHELIN -Ice® Xi3™, to better manage the icy or snowy conditions you face on a daily basis. Even when roads are dry or wet, the MICHELIN -Ice® Xi3™ will provide you the safety you need during extreme cold temperatures.
If you live in a more moderate area where you are not exposed regularly to severe winter climate conditions, the MICHELIN® Premier® A/S tire with EverGrip™ may be a good option. It features an evolving tread design and high-traction rubber compound to deliver exceptional levels of wet grip, providing enhanced safety even as the tires wear down.
No matter what winter is like where you reside, everyone can take these three easy steps to get ready:
- Take care of the outside: Now is the time to check essential safety components like your tires, headlights and windshield wipers. Make sure tires are inflated to the correct pressure and have enough tread, that your headlights are bright and that your wipers are in good working condition.
- Take care of the inside: Make sure to test all of the necessary equipment, including your heater and defroster. Now is also the time to check and possibly change all fluids, especially the antifreeze and washer fluid. The first cold snap is also a time that your battery may show signs it needs replacing. You can get it checked at no cost at most auto parts stores.
- Have a winter-ready kit in the trunk: Make sure you know where your ice scraper/snow brush is. It's not a bad idea to have an extra set of gloves in the trunk, as well as a shovel, ice melt and jumper cables. Depending on the conditions, you may want to consider adding snow chains to your kit. MICHELIN Easy Grip composite snow chains are a lighter alternative to traditional metal chains, with fibers that grip snow and steel clips that are capable of digging into ice.
It is also worth getting your tires and car checked by a professional to make sure that everything is in working order. With a little preparation, you won't get caught when the weather really turns.
The #Ready4Winter photo contest runs until December 7, 2014. Full rules are available at readyforwinter.com/rules.
