SAN JOSE, Calif., March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackArrow, a leading worldwide provider of advanced advertising solutions for New Television platforms, today announced that Michael Pohl has joined the company's board of directors.
For more than two decades, Pohl has contributed to the television industry's adoption and monetization of on-demand and digital video, advanced advertising, and next-generation technologies together with cable operators and network programmers in North America and Europe. In 2008, he was the recipient of cable's highest honor, the NCTA Vanguard Award.
Pohl currently is a member of the board of directors of Ascent Media, serves as chairman of the board of directors of BigBand Networks and sits on the advisory board for Canoe Ventures. "His guidance and insights are invaluable in the creation of business and technology solutions that enable service providers and programmers to create a profitable advertising business across New-TV platforms."
"With the dramatic consumer trend toward on-demand and time-shifted viewing, dynamic addressable advertising holds tremendous promise as a source of new revenue for our industry," said Pohl. He also served as CEO of SkyConnect and held executive positions with Tribune Communications and Douglas Communications Corporations. Among his many contributions was the critical role he played in the creation of the HITS service for satellite delivery of digital signals.
Pohl is a member of the Cable TV Pioneers and has served on numerous industry committees with CableLabs®, CTAM and the NCTA.
