Michael Plowgian Joins KPMG's Washington National Tax Practice
Former Senior Advisor at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Will Focus on International Tax Issues
NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Plowgian, most recently a well-known senior advisor at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), has joined KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax, and advisory firm, as a principal in the firm's Washington National Tax Practice. Based in Washington, DC, Plowgian will help support the firm's International Tax practice in assisting corporate multinational clients in navigating the ever-changing business and international tax landscapes.
Possessing both strong technical and relationship-building skills, Plowgian comes to KPMG with an impressive track record of providing strategic and policy advice on various high-profile U.S. and international tax matters. In his most recent role at the OECD, he worked with international tax policy makers around the globe and coordinated the drafting of the organization's recently released action plan to address base erosion and profit sharing by multinational enterprises.

Previously, Plowgian served as an attorney advisor with the Office of the International Tax Counsel at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he was responsible for regulatory and other guidance under U.S. international tax provisions, including the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA). Prior to that, Plowgian was a tax associate in the Atlanta and Washington, DC, offices of King & Spalding LLP.
Plowgian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Denison University. He also graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School and earned a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy degree from Tufts University.
