Michael Niebruegge, Leading Practitioner in Energy Finance, Joins Cadwalader
HOUSTON, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, today announced that it has added one of the foremost attorneys in energy finance, Michael Niebruegge, to the Partnership. Mr. Niebruegge will bring his expertise in financing oil and gas production and reserve-base lending to Cadwalader's newly formed Energy and Commodities Advisory Practice.
"Mike is an outstanding lawyer with extensive knowledge and experience in complex financings of oil, gas and related assets," said W. Christopher White, Chairman of Cadwalader. "The combination of his energy finance practice with Cadwalader's energy regulatory and transactional practices makes Cadwalader the clear choice for financial institutions and companies seeking counsel for complex transactions involving energy and other commodities."
"Mike's addition to the Houston office provides Cadwalader's clients with established finance and restructuring capabilities for projects involving oil and gas infrastructure, including pipelines, storage facilities and other midstream assets," stated Robert Stephens, Partner and head of Cadwalader's Houston office. "His practice also expands Cadwalader's growing abilities in oil and natural gas related commodities. I am pleased to welcome him to our practice and the Houston Office," he said.
"I was attracted to the way in which Cadwalader's traditional strength in financing complements its new strength in the energy field," said Mr. Niebruegge. "Joining Cadwalader offers a tremendous opportunity to build a first-rate energy financing practice."
"Mike adds significant depth to our cross-border oil and gas capabilities, an increasingly important area for our international clients as they expand their activities in global physical energy markets," added Doron Ezickson, who heads Cadwalader's London office energy practice.
Cadwalader formally launched its Energy and Commodities practice in January 2011 with the addition of several partner-level attorneys specializing in energy, commodities and derivatives law. The team advises commercial companies, banks, commodity trading operations, brokerage firms and other clients in a variety of complex transactional, regulatory, legislative, enforcement defense and litigation matters.
Mr. Niebruegge received an A.B., cum laude, in Economics from Harvard College and earned his JD from Cornell Law School where he was the Note and Comment Editor for the Cornell Law Review.
