Michael Loeb Talks Serial Entrepreneurship at Brandweek Challenger Summit 2019
The Loeb.nyc founder outlined his approach to building successful companies during a fireside chat with Adweek Editor, Lisa Granatstein
NEW YORK, March 27, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Loeb, founder and CEO of Loeb.nyc, the New York City-based venture collective, recently participated in a fireside chat during Brandweek's Challenger Summit at New York City's Grand Hyatt. Loeb made his remarks in front of roughly 600 attendees gathered at the first annual Challenger Summit, a two-day event focused on companies that are pioneering new waves of innovation in today's ever-shifting brand landscape.
Lisa Granatstein, Adweek's editor and SVP of programming, conducted the one-on-one interview with Loeb to kick off the Summit's second full day. A Direct Marketing Association Hall of Fame inductee, Loeb shared a variety of stories ranging from his creation of The Synapse Group, a multichannel marketing company that revolutionized the world of magazine subscriptions, to his time spent incubating Priceline.com. He also discussed the unique cultural attributes of Loeb.nyc, the venture studio that he oversees in midtown Manhattan.
During the discussion, Loeb described Loeb.nyc as a place where entrepreneurs are truly allowed to foster their ideas and build their companies. He derided the fact that, in his words, "most entrepreneurs spend half of each day raising money or keeping investors happy." Loeb added that he is drawn to companies that have the right founder, explaining that: "The right founder will find a way – they will go through it, tunnel under it, figure it out. They will not be denied."
Loeb joined other industry leaders who participated in Brandweek's two-day Challenger Summit, including Tim Armstrong, former CEO of both Oath and AOL, Tom Cortese, co-founder of Peleton, Betheny Frankel, CEO of Skinnygirl, and Eduardo Luz, CMO of KraftHeinz.
The complete discussion between Loeb and Granatstein is available here. An active philanthropist and angel investor, Loeb encourages startups to reach him and his team at Loeb.nyc.
