Michael Innes Joins GS1 US as Vice President of Healthcare
Innes to Lead the GS1 Healthcare US Industry Initiative, Dedicated to Improving Patient Safety and Supply Chain Performance in the Healthcare Industry
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- GS1 US has appointed Michael Innes vice president, healthcare. In this role, Mr. Innes is responsible for leading GS1 Healthcare US®, an industry-driven initiative that is working toward the adoption of open, global standards to help healthcare companies improve accuracy, speed and efficiency in their supply chain and care delivery.
Mr. Innes will facilitate collaboration among healthcare supply chain stakeholders to understand their collective objectives and offer strategic guidance on the use of standards and technology to improve business and clinical processes. He will also oversee the GS1 US healthcare industry engagement team, which works with pharmaceutical, medical device, provider and patient care professionals to drive GS1® Standards implementation in their organizations and across the industry.

Prior to joining GS1 US, Mr. Innes was a program director with Kaiser Permanente where he managed strategic projects designed to extend the value of GS1 Standards within and beyond the supply chain. He is a founding member and former chair of the Healthcare Transformation Group, a provider-based collaboration designed to accelerate adoption of GS1 Standards.
Mr. Innes also previously worked as a management consultant for KPMG LLP and Ernst & Young where he developed and delivered implementation methodologies for both domestic and international Fortune 500 clients focused on delivering operational risk assessments within the supply chain. Additionally, he has experience in the technology industry working with international clients to implement business-to-business exchanges with CommerceOne, an eCommerce platform provider.
Mr. Innes earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California at Irvine and a Masters of Business Administration/Information Systems from California State University, Long Beach. He is a member in good standing with The Association for Operations Management since 2001, and is currently Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
