Michael Goldberg Joins Porter Novelli as Global Chief Marketing Officer
NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Global public relations leader Porter Novelli today announced that Michael Goldberg will be joining the agency as a senior partner and global chief marketing officer.
A dynamic and team-oriented leader, Goldberg has achieved an enviable record of success in building agency business. He has been serving as executive vice president and CMO of Zimmerman Advertising, responsible for the agency's diversification and growth. During Goldberg's time with Zimmerman, the company more than doubled the breadth of its client base while tripling in size.
"I am so pleased and excited to have Michael joining the team at Porter Novelli," said Gary Stockman, the agency's CEO. "We have known and pitched alongside Michael. He is not only a powerful talent but a collaborative and effective leader who makes those around him better.
"Public relations is in a major growth mode these days, as organizations look for new ways to identify, engage and influence their key audiences," Stockman continued. "This is the time for a proven new business leader, one with a passion for the company and our business. We have found that in Michael."
At Porter Novelli, Goldberg will lead business development and marketing, helping the agency to tell its story more effectively both inside and out. His focus will be to work side-by-side with teams to develop new agency relationships; lead and advise new business efforts; position the firm for consideration; and advocate for the agency brand to strengthen culture and connections across the network.
Goldberg will report to Stockman and will join the agency's executive committee.
"I believe the PR industry is in a renaissance," Goldberg said, "and it can and should have a louder marketing voice to guide brands and organizations through a new, consumer-obsessed marketplace.
"I have been a fan of Porter Novelli for many years," Goldberg said. "This is the agency that invented social marketing 40 years ago in order to make the world a better place, and it continues to operate on a more purposeful platform than any firm I have ever seen. There is no better moment to create a positive change in this real-time world."
Prior to joining Zimmerman, Goldberg served as CEO of Harris Drury Cohen. Goldberg also toured in the international group, Up With People. He earned his bachelor's degree from Florida State University.
Goldberg will be based at Porter Novelli's headquarters in New York. He will make the transition from his current location in Florida during the fourth quarter, and will formally assume his new role at the first of the year.
