M/I Homes Makes New Community Bloom in Harrisburg, N.C. Near Charlotte

HARRISBURG, N.C., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- M/I Homes is opening Blume, a new residential neighborhood located at Rocky River Road and Hickory Ridge Road. M/I Homes intends to build 297 homes on 225 acres of beautiful, rolling farmland the company recently acquired from the Blume family. Nearly 50 percent of the site will be permanently preserved as common open space to create a beautiful landscape for the community.

Community development will begin in the fall. Prices have not been finalized but are expected to range from the $200s to the $500s. Amenities will include a pool, cabana, walking trails and playground.

"We decided to name the community 'Blume' because it's the last name of the family who owned the property," says Tamara Lynch, M/I Homes of Charlotte vice president of sales and marketing. "We're planning to landscape the entrances and common open spaces with native blooming plants, keeping the rural feel that's consistent throughout Harrisburg."

M/I Homes will offer home plans at Blume from M/I's Traditional, Cottage, Courtyard, and Showcase series. Buyers can choose from a wide variety of home styles, ranging from about 2,000 to more than 6,000 square feet. Select from 3 to 6 bedrooms, 2 to 4 baths, and 2 or 3-car garages, including side-entry garages in the Showcase series. Both ranches and two-story homes will be available.

Many of the home plans feature large kitchens with double-sided fireplaces, walk-in pantries, downstairs guest suites, generous family rooms, and expansive windows to maximize the beautiful views. M/I Homes ranch plans have optional walk-up spaces with extra bedrooms and full baths, high ceilings, and skylights.

Look for exteriors of full brick, brick and stone, and HardiePlank with brick and stone accents. Front porches and covered lanais will add to the inviting atmosphere. A limited number of homes will feature basements and crawl spaces.

Cabarrus County Schools serving the new community include Patriots Elementary, Hickory Ridge Middle School, and Hickory Ridge High School.
