MHz Choice Announces March Premieres: 'Blochin' and 'Spring Tide'
WASHINGTON, Feb. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This March, MHz Choice premieres German thriller Blochin and Scandinavian Noir Spring Tide from Sweden.
March 6: Blochin – Series Premiere
A homicide cop with a mysterious past and a bad attitude works the seedy underbelly of Berlin alongside his straight-laced brother-in-law in this gritty, complex German thriller from the director of Cenk Batu Undercover Agent. With its horizontal narrative structure and deeply flawed characters, writer/director Matthias Glasner's "Berlin Noir" is as much a drama as it is about crime, and takes its inspiration from shows like True Detective, House of Cards and Homeland. A kaleidoscope of the city of Berlin and its people, Blochin doesn't just tell the story of its title character but tells multiple, overlapping stories of the men and women of Berlin's Homicide Division 7 and their families, friends and enemies.
March 20: Spring Tide – Series Premiere
A classic Scandi Noir thriller from the producers of The Bridge and the writers of Beck and Arne Dahl. In 1990, a brutal murder occurs on Nordkoster Island: a pregnant young woman is buried in the sand, left to slowly drown by the rising tide. 25 years later, police trainee Olivia Rönning is assigned the unsolved murder as a cold case exercise – and becomes obsessed when she realizes her late father worked on the case. The original investigation was led by Detective Tom Stilton, and when Olivia tracks him down she discovers he's now homeless and doesn't want to be reminded of that case. Eventually, Olivia and Tom cross paths and work together to solve the murder – but what they discover has unimaginable consequences for Olivia. Starring Kjell Bergqvist (Death of a Pilgrim, The Fourth Man), Julia Ragnarsson (The Bridge, Wallander) and Helena Bergström (Missing, Annika Bengtzon).
