MHASP to Honor Rep. Gene DiGirolamo, Tony Valdés at Bell of Hope Award Dinner

Since 1951, the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania has been at the forefront of transforming mental health services, advocating for the shutdown of state mental hospitals and directing those funds to the creation of new, community-based delivery models that are more accessible, responsive and effective for those in need, including the families of those with mental health challenges. MHASP now provides more than 40 direct services, in Philadelphia and the four surrounding counties and Delaware.
The Bell of Hope Award, MHASP's highest honor, is presented annually to an individual or individuals, organization, foundation or corporation whose significant and far-reaching contributions have benefited people with lived experience of mental health conditions. |

At the Bell of Hope Award Dinner, MHASP will present its Distinguished Service Award to RepresentativeGene DiGirolamo of the 18th Legislative District, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and Chairman of the House Human Services Committee. During his 22 years as a Pennsylvania state legislator, Representative DiGirolamo has been a passionate and effective advocate for people with mental health conditions and those who are challenged by addiction and substance use.
Antonio (Tony) Valdés, CEO of the Children's Crisis Treatment Center, will receive the prestigious Bell of Hope Award for his longstanding dedication and commitment to improving the lives of children with behavioral health conditions and their families.
Former City Behavioral Health Commissioner and current CEO of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Arthur Evans, will present the Bell of Hope Award and CBS 3 anchor Jessica Dean will emcee the event. |
