ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ArborMetrix, Inc., a leading provider of real-time healthcare analytics, and the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) Keystone Center today announced that the MHA Keystone Center will use ArborMetrix's RegistryMetrix™ at approximately 60 hospitals across the state to capture obstetrics data and performance reports that will help reduce obstetrical adverse events and improve patient safety.
RegistryMetrix is an advanced clinical registry tailored for the specific needs of specialty provider groups or quality improvement collaboratives. It enables organizations such as the MHA Keystone Center to define clinical measures for a specialty's most important conditions and rapidly deploy comparative performance reports through a cloud-based platform.
"Hospitals participating in MHA Keystone: Obstetrics (OB) implement evidence-based interventions to eliminate preventable fetal and maternal harm," said Sam R. Watson, MHA senior vice president, patient safety and quality. "RegistryMetrix will allow us to integrate even better performance measurement analytics to ensure all babies born in Michigan come into the world in optimal health."
MHA member hospitals will use RegistryMetrix's performance measurement analytics in their OB programs to identify, share and implement best practices for four primary objectives:
- Ensure the optimal care of women with preeclampsia.
- Discourage elective deliveries before 39-weeks' gestation.
- Reduce rates of post-partum hemorrhage.
- Reduce the need for newborn admissions to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
"The MHA Keystone Center is a pioneer among U.S. healthcare associations in using performance measurement analytics such as RegistryMetrix to improve the safety and quality of care for patients," said Brett Furst, CEO of ArborMetrix. "RegistryMetrix will provide the clinical intelligence and insights on best practices to improve the quality of OB care across the state, while also reducing costs by helping to reduce the number of complications, elective deliveries and NICU admissions."
RegistryMetrix will collect and analyze data from practicing OB specialists at MHA locations for the top conditions, treatments and procedures. It quantifies the value of OB-care by measuring the impacts on patient outcomes. Ultimately, the robust clinical database within RegistryMetrix supports empirical analysis and collaborative learning that helps drive continuous improvement.
