MGM Television Celebrates Banner Week With Top Series Airing Every Day
The Voice, Survivor, The Handmaids Tale, Fargo, Shark Tank
Mark Burnett and Jamie Foxx New Show Beat Shazam to Premiere May 25th
LOS ANGELES, May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MGM Television this week dominates the airwaves with #1 unscripted shows on network TV three nights a week (The Voice, Survivor, Shark Tank) and two critically-acclaimed scripted shows airing on Wednesday (The Handmaids Tale, Fargo).
Additionally, FOX premieres the new interactive musical game show hosted by Jamie Foxx, Beat Shazam. The MGM Television team is led by Mark Burnett, President, Television Group & Digital with Barry Poznick, President, Unscripted Television and Steve Stark, President, Television Production & Development.
Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. said on MGM's Q1 2017 earnings call to its stockholders last week this is a remarkable growth story for MGM Television considering the company had only one show on air in 2012 (Teen Wolf).
"MGM Television is on fire and we are making shows that are on network television, cable and digital platforms everyday with some of the biggest names in the industry. Our production teams led by Steve Stark and Barry Poznick have helped to create and oversee quality series that continue to lead in their time slots and keep fans tuning in week after week," said Burnett. "We have worked hard to grow our roster of bold programming and I am so proud to be a part of this dynamic team."
Upcoming MGM Television scripted series include: the dark comedy Get Shorty premiering on EPIX on August 13, HISTORY's #1 scripted series Vikings will debut its fifth season later this year and the sixth and final season of Teen Wolf will air on MTV this summer. In addition, we are currently shooting Condor, the spy series inspired by Paramount's Sydney Pollack 1975 political thriller Three Days of the Condor for AT&T's Audience Network.
Looking ahead for MGM Television's unscripted series, Steve Harvey's FUNDERDOME will premiere on June 11 on ABC; El Rey Network's #1 series Lucha Underground will premiere its third season this year; and coming this fall, Lauren Lake's Paternity Court, the syndicated daytime court show from Orion TV Productions (a subsidiary of MGM), will launch its fifth season and the new syndicated court show, Couples Court with the Cutlers will make its debut.
