MG - Photographic Essays of Radiant Dancer Marjorie Goodson at Her Prime by Noted Fashion Photographer Andreea Radutoiu

"I've had a love affair with dance as long as I can remember," says Goodson, who spent nearly three years working on the project. "Dance is my purpose and passion, it feeds my soul. I've always felt that deep pull and emotional connection to dance expression." The collection of gritty, sensual and playful dance images reveals Goodson's provocative and daring nature as an artist. MG not only pushes the creative envelope but also breaks down stigmas and taboos, in the belief that one's passion, empowerment and self-esteem are accessible at any age.

"For me," says Goodson, "time, experience, growth and struggle, have been my creative building blocks for this book. This awesome 'four'some has given me the strength and conviction to become the artist and person that I've always wanted to be. There are no age limits or rules where passion and artistry are concerned," says Goodson. To anyone of a certain age she advises "Do what empowers you. Get out of your head and get into your life!"

MG is a collaboration between Goodson, as creative director, the Romanian born photographer Andreea Radutoiu, and hair and makeup stylist Torsten Witte, of LaLa Land fame. Set against dynamic Southern California landmarks, occasionally partnered to gorgeous effect, but more often solo, Goodson radiates both vibrant energy and exquisite discipline on each page.  "Capturing Marjorie became a dance.  I learned to dance with my camera and be there at the right moment," said Radutoiu.  "Once you let her fly she gives you everything, no matter how cold or tired she gets.  It's been a wonderful journey and collaboration with Torsten and Marjorie to stitch together her passion for dance."

In seeming mid-flight, delicately en pointe, or curved languorously, Goodson is positioned against clean architectural lines, or industrial grit, endless sand dunes, or pools of water.  Within a palate of sepias and charcoals, with high contrast shadows, occasional pops of red, and flashes of bright white, the body is the locus of each shot. Radutoiu's images celebrate Goodson's artistry and technique, the lean muscles, impeccable execution, and undeniable beauty – and acknowledge the dancer's maturity and experience.  Goodson hopes that the artistry and honesty inspires others of similar age to revisit whatever fulfills them and embrace a second chapter.
