Mexico Showcases Meetings And Incentives Offering At IMEX America In Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mexico Tourism Board will showcase the country's sophisticated meetings and incentives infrastructure this week at IMEX America - considered the most important international commercial platform for this segment - in Las Vegas, alongside 64 tourism board and meeting industry partners.
Meetings and incentives tourism is worth 18.1 billion dollars to Mexico and represents 1.4% of the national GDP. Mexican exhibitors have more than 920 confirmed meetings with international buyers as well as 15 group presentations.
Mexico will be highlighting recent success in the sector, including the hosting of several world-class events during 2012, such as the first ever Americas Summit of the World Travel & Tourism Council in Riviera Maya, the G20 in Los Cabos, and the World Congress of Chambers of Commerce in Mexico City.
Mexico boasts sophisticated meetings infrastructure. With over 71 major convention and exposition centers across the country and half a million hotel rooms in more than 3000 luxury hotels, Mexico is equipped to hold meetings of international caliber. Due to major infrastructural development and strong governmental support, Mexico saw a 25 percent increase in world congresses from 2010 to 2011, positioning the country as 20th in the ICCA rankings for 2011.
Mexican destinations that will be presenting their offering of meetings and conventions tourism in Las Vegas are: Mexico City, Queretaro, Los Cabos, Yucatan, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Riviera Maya and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.
