Mexico City Revs Up To Host Major Fall Sporting Events
Mexico's Capital Serves as Home Base to a Variety of Notable International Sporting Events between August and December 2015, Offering a Front Row Seat for Sports Fans
MEXICO CITY, Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- There is never a dull moment in Mexico City. As the country's premier tourism destination, Mexico City is home to many colorful and exciting events every month, from centuries-old traditions to more modern attractions and festivals. Here is a list of some of the most notable upcoming sporting events in Mexico City, hosted this year:
Mexico City Marathon (August 30)
The 33rd edition of the Mexico City Marathon took place on August 30th, 2015. The course revived the 1968 Summer Olympics route starting in the Juarez Monument and finishing in the Olympic Stadium. This year's edition of the race included over 30,000, runners making it one of the largest marathons in the world.
FIBA Americas Championship (August 31-September 12)
The 2015 FIBA Americas Championship is the most important basketball competition across the American continents, bringing together the best ten teams of the region, each competing to obtain the two available spots for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Championship will be held from August 31st to September 12th, at the "Palacio de los Deportes."
Bridgestone America's Golf Cup presented by Value / featuring Tiger Woods (October 22-25)
The Bridgestone America's Golf Cup presented by Value is part of the Latin-American PGA Tour calendar and is organized every year in a Latin American country. This year, Mexico City will host this important event, with the participation of some of the best players in the world; including Tiger Woods, who will play in Mexico for the first time.
The tournament will be held from October 22nd to 25th, at the "Campestre Club" of Mexico City. Twenty-eight teams from different countries are participating, including: United States, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Guatemala, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Honduras, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.
Archery World Cup Final (October 24-25)
The Archery World Cup Final will be held at Mexico City's main square, the "Zocalo," where the best 32 archers from around the world will compete for the title. Led by the Mexican Olympic medalist, Aida Roman, Mexico will host this great event on October 24th and 25th and is expected to draw over 20,000 spectators.
Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix (October 30-November 1)
After 23 years of absence, Mexico City and the emblematic "Hermanos Rodriguez" circuit will be the hosts of the 2015 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix. The best drivers in the world will be in action and Mexico could witness the coronation of this season's champion, being the second to last race of the F1 calendar.
F1 FanZone Mexico City (October 30-November 1)
The F1 FanZone is the most important festival in the world for motor racing. Mexico City joins Abu Dhabi, Montreal, Monaco, London and Melbourne, as one of the five cities to offer this experience. F1 FanZone CDMX 2015™ is a unique opportunity for everyone. People will be able to live the experience and adrenaline rush of speed through activities and events.

The best female golfers in the world will return to Mexico City for the second time from November 12th to 15th, to compete at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational 2015. Mexico's own Lorena Ochoa, who was the #1 ranked female golfer in the world for several years, organizes this LPGA event at the Mexico Golf Club.
World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final (December 5-6)
The World Taekwondo Federation Grand Prix Final will feature the best 64-taekwondo athletes in the world. They will be competing to earn the event title, as well as points to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
